Slow Press Bookshop / Rivierenbuurt, Amsterdam
An independent bookshop, opening 2027

Books that take their time.

Slow Press is a neighbourhood bookshop in Amsterdam's Rivierenbuurt. It stocks books that were slow to make, slow to read, or slow to find their readers, and it makes room to stay a while.

Slow Press is a bookshop and a third space: somewhere to browse without hurry, meet neighbours, and read. It leans analogue, with a few board games on the shelves beside the books.

Careful choice stands in for algorithms and top-ten tables. The shop competes on expertise and selection, not on price.

Mostly English, mostly backlist, with new books leading. Fiction and translation, essay and humanities, poetry and craft, art and visual culture, children's books, practical and making.

A book counts as slow if it took long to write, long to read, or long to catch on. Small presses, self-published work, and books the industry was not ready for have a place here. Bestsellers come by special order.

Reading and writing groups, book clubs, exhibitions, pottery classes, board game evenings, and language cafés. A writer in residence will work from the shed in the back garden.

The programme is built with the neighbourhood, not handed down to it.

For publishers, collaborations, or a note to the shop, write to hello@example.com.

Opening early 2027. Dates for the community fundraiser will appear here.
